It is not recommend that anyone try and learn to fly helicopters on their own!

Although it can be done, it is generally a very expensive and sometimes dangerous way of going about it. The best way to get into the hobby is to talk to an instructor that can help and guide you. If you are interested in learning to fly helicopters, come to our club flying site and have a chat with some Helicopter pilots and get some tips, don't forget they have been where you are now !!! Helicopters are more difficult than planes (it is an advantage if you can already fly a plane). If you can't, it may take a bit longer to learn, but no problem. Choosing the right heli to start with isn't easy, as there are so many to choose from. Most seem to choose a Raptor 30 or similar, and training legs can be a help (stops the heli tipping over so easy). Once you have decided to start with helicopters and got one, come to the club with it so someone can check it for safety,  then it can be hovered and trimmed ready for you to try once you have joined the club
as you need insurance to fly  at the club field.

How not  to do it...               and the right way...
